Pati Llimona

Pati Llimona (30)

Here you will find one of the oldest buildings in the city. In the Gothic style, it is situated close to the Plaça Sant Jaume, and was originally no more than a tower of the first Roman settlement and then used as a Roman baths.

In the 15th century it was the home of an aristocratic family from Barcelona and it is named after the man who bought the building in 1779 - Tomás Llimona. The original terrace, supported on ledges with 15th century figures, is conserved. It is possibly the work of Jordi Johan. There are painted Gothic murals in one of the rooms.

Its final transformation took place at the beginning of the 1990s, when the space was turned into a Civic Centre. Today it houses halls and meeting rooms for exhibitions, workshops, courses and conferences.

In the main entrance there is a sculpture by the well-known hair stylist Lluís Llongueras and inside there are the remains of a Roman house which stood next to one of the gates of the ancient city wall. The archaeological excavations can be seen from the street through a specially installed large window.
