You can get to this lovely corner of Lisbon on the Gloria tram which runs along a cable and is, in itself, a popular tourist attraction.
Found in the lively Bairro Alto district, this viewing point is where Lisbon’s young gather to meet.
Next to the railing, a tiled map will help you identify some of the buildings that make up the spectacular view of Lisbon available here, from its most urban side to its most ancient.
The panorama looks out from the walls of the “Sao Jorge” castle, surrounded by trees, and extends to the “Penha de França” church. You also have a perfect view of the great “Graça” church as well as, thanks to the symmetrical towers of its white façade, the “Sao Vicente de Fora” church.
If you take the chance to visit this viewing point at night you will be truly enchanted by the sight of the illuminated castle.
