Strand Book Store

Strand Book Store (56)

With more than 2 and a half million copies, the Strand Book Store, located at 828 Broadway, is one of the busiest second-hand book shops in the world that often surprises collectors and treasure hunters with small paper gems and historical oddities. Obviously, it inherits its name from the famous London street where booksellers gather.

Originally, this book shop was opened in 1927 by Ben Bass and was next to others on Fourth Avenue, but since 1956 it moved to its current location. The shop has bought and sold many books to date with special agreements with publishers and distributors, so you can find highly topical books with exceptional discounts and if you like to explore, ask for the rare book section, which is on the third floor of 826 Broadway, on the right.

Today, the Strand Book Store has books to suit every taste. From philosophy to novels, from art pedagogy and from marketing to graphic design. Whatever your profession, you are sure to find a bargain to take home.

And if you do not like books, we recommend visiting the Strand Book Store as it is an institution. In addition, it features in a lot of films or series. For example, the "eternal vampire" Robert Pattinson is an employee of the book shop in the film Remember Me, and Nora Epphron enters looking for a book in a scene from the film Julie and Julia.
