Café Landtmann

Café Landtmann (52E)

Dr-Karl-Lueger-Ring 4.

Together with the Central, it currently remains the most visited place by local intellectuals. Covered with mirrors and wood, it is a very classy place. It opened for the first time in 1973 at the hands of its founder, a coffee merchant Franz Landtmann, and used to be the favourite haunt of the father of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud Austrian. This is nothing strange if one considers that it is not far from his home and his office on the Bergasse. This is where he met Anna von Lieben, his famous patient Cäcilie M, essential in their studies of the psyche.

The elegance of the Landtmann has attracted customers like Hillary Clinton, former Beatle Paul McCartney, actor Burt Lancaster and Austro-German actress Romy Schneider.
