The Aegean Maritime Museum, also known as the Naval Museum, is anchored in the centre of Mykonos Town, near the Tria Pigadia district. 

The museum is housed in a landmark nineteenth-century building and explains the history of the development of navigation in the Aegean Sea, from ancient Assyrian to later Egyptian vessels and including warships from several centuries BC up to the nineteenth century. 

To visit the museum is to embark a fascinating journey through Greek maritime history. A journey that allows the visitor to relive the past thanks to a series of stunning models on display, including a lighthouse and a sailing vessel.

For those sea-lovers among you, this museum is a veritable treasure-trove, housing anchors, engravings, maps and historical documents, model vessels ranging from the pre-Minoan period up to the nineteenth century, an impressive collection of decorated naval-representation coins and a variety tools and navigation instruments, all as ancient as they are beautiful.

The Maritime Museum can be visited from April to October, in the morning from 10.30 am to 1 pm and in the afternoon from 4.30 to 9 pm.
