Little India Arcade

Little India Arcade (30)

Bordered to the east by Serangoon Road, to the north by Campbell Lane and to the south by Hastings Road, Little India Arcade is a maze of shops crowded inside a building with picturesque yellow walls and green windows.

Although it is a pre-1920s building, it has served as a shopping complex since 1994, after being carefully restored.  The goal of this restoration was to help preserve the footprint left by the first Indian immigrants on Little India.

We especially recommend this visit for those of you who love India, but also for souvenir hunters. Open from 9 am to 10 pm, this complex hosts a large number of small shops, bookstores and restaurants where you can find practically anything from traditional sweets and snacks like Gulam jamun (cream cheese balls), to saris, herbs, incense, handicrafts, jewellry, and Bollywood DVDs.

You can also discover Indian art and culture in the Arcade’s Indian Cultural Centre. The centre is open every day except Sunday and offers visitors demonstrations of Indian dances, paintings done by hand and decorative wreath making.

The Little Inida Arcade is a fascinating spectacle. Moving through its crowds, as well as its smells and colours you will discover a true microcosm-a miniature India. Enjoy it!

When you exit, be sure to stroll along Campbell Lane, where you will find vendors selling flower garlands, and Serangoon Road, full of jewellry shops.
